I Went to the Party is a timely exploration of the online connection we search for and its mirror image to the relationships we foster offline. The film uses MiniDV tape to paint a picture of uncertainty and anxiety in the characters and the reality they face. Filled with energy and questions for this world, the camera explores space and recalls memory through the imperfect imitation of image that miniDV provides. Dialogue accompanies the image through the character's conversation, but often contradicts what the imagery proves.

The film began principal photography on my 23rd birthday, as I was living in my parents basement with little work, and only my laptop to consistently reach out to friends with. The short film came from a personal fear of entrapment in my body - one which seemed to have stepped backwards from the one I had in college, being now back home. The need to connect and change into someone better was apparent in my life and made New Years the perfect backdrop for the story. But how can one change or genuinely connect with another person if they do not know who they were to begin with? Is the internet truly the one space where people can cut away the negative aspects of themselves they hate, or will it only make those flaws more apparent in the real world?
